I can tell you that a polluted, poorly taken care of environment doesn't make tourists want to come. Tourists want to see clean and beautiful nature environments, like Bhutan, or certain parts of Thailand. I was thinking of Sri Lanka, but another war-ridden environment prevents tourists from coming. Costa Rica and Jamaica are threatened with eco-disaster due to too much tourism. I've enclosed a few links. Best regards.
