I know my period is coming in a day or two just because I suddenly am in the mood more often. Hormonal surge.

Yes, the hormones released durning menstruation do sometimes have that effect. I am a man and have never experienced it, I know that my wife has at times had that 'problem'. Please see the link below for more information.
