We don't have Peugeot here in the US. (At least not anymore).

It depends on the engine that you have in your vehicle. If the vehicle is an interference fit engine, then you will basically be replacing any moving part that experienced damage. In an interference fit engine, it is very possible that one of the valves is in the open position and a piston ended up hitting the valve. This would require replacement of the piston that would be scarred as well as the valve that was bent when the piston hit it.

If the vehicle has a non-interference fit engine, then simply replace the timing belt (make sure you align the timing of the cam and crank and distributor's rotor).

So the amount of damage that your engine experienced is really dependent on if the engine is an interference fit engine (in which case it probably needs to be replaced completely (or rebuilt). You can try replacing just the valves and pistions that were damaged, but cost wise it will be about the same as just installing a remanufactured engine.

If it's a non-interference fit engine then it's more than likely that simply replacing the timing belt will get your vehicle running again.

Call your dealership and ask to determine if the engine is an interference fit or non-interference fit engine.

if you were trying to start the car for a long time and kept on trying to start it many many times the valves or pistons might have gone bad if you diognosed the timing belt was bad right away from when it didnt start and stopped trying ti start it i wouldnt worry about them unless your car had alot of wear then the pistons or valves could gone bad with that extra agitation from trying to start the car

It is gonna run you about $3,000 USD to fix your car, or nothing if your car is under warranty.
