Maybe you should go for the whole "young, innocent school girl" type approach! Maybe you could write him a note saying
"Will you go to the dance with me?"
And then at the bottom put 2 boxes, one labeled yes and the other labeled no! That would be totally cute!!! Thats what I would do!

Approach the person with whom you wish to dance.
Catch the person's eye. If he or she is engaged in conversation, wait within earshot of the conversation and break in when appropriate.
Say, "Excuse me," when appropriate. Do not introduce yourself - save that for the dance floor.
Hold your hands down. Do not offer a hand.
Ask, "May I have this dance?" or, "Would you care to dance?"
If the dance is accepted, offer your arm.
Proceed to the dance floor together.

Take him over to your place, fix him some lunch, dinner ect... Tell him that you thought about this question, over and over. Ask him if he would like to go to the dance with you, and if he says no, tell him that you are not angry and maybe the next dance, if he says yes, tell him how excited you are.
Good Luck!

here's how you do it: hey, guy friend, we've got a sadie hawkins dance coming up and i dont' want to go so if i ask you to go will you say no.
anyway, you must feel strongly about this 'guy friend' so take him.

Say things like, well, just tell him. Say," I was so nervous about this, but here I go... Will you go to the dance with me? Your a really sweet guy and I'd like you to be my date. *smile*" He'll probably say yes and you'll go to the dance. *Do the cha-cha* LoLz
