A barrel of crude oil produces (among other things) slightly less than 20 gallons of gasoline (depending on the grade). The remainder of the barrel is used to produce other things. com.

I recall looking at Valero's webiste www.valero.com (I don't work there I just buy gas at one of their stations) to find out interesting stuff about the oil industry.
