Mg(g)+2HCI(aq)= MgCl2(aq)+H2(g)

The equation you have written shows the "moles" of each compound in the equation. Thus, when writing the above, you are saying that one mole of Mg + 2 moles of HCl gives one mole of MgCl2 + 1 mole of H2.

thus if you start with 1 mole of Mg (assuming you have enough HCl) this will give 1 mole of H2

So if you start with 0.750 mole Mg, you get 0.750 mole H2

By the way, both Mg and MgCl2 are solid, and should be shown with the letter "(s)", to indicate they are solids.

Excess HCl means that there is enough HCl to react all the Mg.

Look at the equation:

1 mole Mg produces 1 mol H2.
So 0.75 moles of Mg will produce 0.75 mol H2.

properly, Allison, in case you learn the balanced equation you will see it tells you: a million mole Zn(s) reacts with 2 moles of HCl (aq) yielding a million mole H2(g). Uh, did you maybe variety in answer b) H2 as a replace of H? the desirable answer is a million mole H2, or 2 moles H.

First of all, I think Mg should be a solid not a gas. -- Mg (s)
Using your balanced equation, just set up a divisional analysis.
.75 mol Mg*(1 mol H2/1 mol Mg) = .75 mol H2
always make sure that the units cancel ( ie the moles of Mg in this case)
