Is punching someone worth the consequences? If not, count to ten and let it go.

Here are some pointers:

1. Punch something that wont get hurt when you get mad, like a pillow, a doll, the couch, anything that can't feel it.
2. Just walk away when you're in a frustrating situation. This way you can avoid hurting someone else (mentally or physically), and get rid of your rage somewhere else.
3. Take up a fierce class, like kickboxing, boxing, karate, anything that involves force, discipline, and punching things. This way, you can help take out your rage in a positive manner, while getting buff at the same time!
4. Clench your fists, take deep breaths, count to ten, and relaaaxx. Tell yourself when you get mad that throwing things or screaming isn't going to solve the problem. This can also help you stress less.

If all else fails, see a counselor or a doctor. They can either prescribe something for you to help you control your temper, or help you talk it out instead of leaving it inside, only to burst into a fit of rage later. Good luck to you!

Sometimes I write a letter saying everything I'd like to say to the person who made me mad and then rip it to shreds like I'd like to rip them. Sometimes I come to Yahoo answers, find the most ridiculous awful questions I can, (there's no shortage of them) and tell the askers that they're idiots. This can be very therapeutic. Usually I just find a friend that I enjoy and bask in their friendship and companionship. That takes my mind off the rage and replaces it with something positive. Rage only hurts the person feeling it, so get it out of your system the best way you can.

I used to have rages. I don't now. What I used to do to control them is to go for a walk and allow myself to feel the rage, but keep it unfocussed. In other words, feel the emotion but don't feed it by thinking of people or situations.

That's a good one, but I control my rage by biting my tongue and punching myself in the face.

Praying a lot helps. You could feel rage by being defensive, scared, or frustrated. A psychiatrist could help you determine the root of your rage, and then you can better deal with it.
