I can promise you Ching doesn't care what his name is....I breed mice & hamsters & most of mine have food or insulting names.....They don't care unless they don't get fed

two years is a long time to not even know what the gender of the animal is. but i might have a solution, pick it up and turn it over, there just may be a little clue as to what the gender of Ching is,and if all else fails, you can always take it to the vet, they are professionals that have been trained to tell these things. but whatever you do, don't get another one, that would be a bad way of finding out who's who and what's what. good luck

Aww, I love chinchillas, they're so much more responsive than other rodents and such. Rabbits and guinea pigs and hamsters all just kind of are annoyed, but this little grey chinchilla in the petstore actually pawed at the little glass he was in while he was standing on a box, and all this cute stuff. It was like a little pikachu! But just keep on calling him Ching, it's a gender neutral name, and he is kind of the default gender to use when talking. He doesn't mind as long as you love him!

well, working at teh zoo, there are many ambiguous animals whose gender is unknown to us. Even if Ching isn't a he, he is much for dignified than it, and besides, u have a 50/50 chance here. (Also, if he is a guy, u'll know soon enough)

a vet can tell. I got a kitten one time for my son. I was told it was a girl, and never had any reason to check either way. Then one day the cat was layin on the coach and I was rubbing it's belly when my son asked me what that red thing was. Turns out, she was a he.

It doesn't make a difference we found out our he was a she and nothing has changed not even her name. Males do need to be checked for hair rings.

As long as he is loved and well cared for, he/she won't care.
