ive heard there is a way you can view past aim conversations... how do you do this?

You have to save them in order to view them, sadly. But there used to be a feature on google desktop search where you could search unsaved ones (that you had after the program was installed) but I don't think it works with AIM triton. Anywho, just go file-save after you've finished a conversation or hit ctrl-s.

If you have yahoo messenger, You have to right click on the persons name and go to "message Archive" and that will give you the past message on who you talked to online.

YIM and MSN yes...but not on AIM...not unless you've saved them
