I think that not only are the parents are at fault but also society in general. We as a society need to take an active role in making sure that the future generations grow up healthy, physically and mentally. But I do think that the parents need to be the most influencial in a child's life.

You can't just blame the parents.... some of the obese kids I have seen sneak up in the middle of the night and eat, or sneak out of the house and use allowance money to buy food. One of my nephews friends used to sneak into his fridge when he visited and eat what he could find. Sometimes it's emotional, but there are also people out there who just do not know when they are full. Also fruits and vegies cost alot more than feeding pastas and canned foods. It could be a money thing.

Good nutrition starts at the home. Caring parents would not let this happen.
Broken families lead to depressed kids, some who find comfort in food. When kids are left to make food choices, guess what they'll choose?
America LOVES big greasy and fat-soaked burgers and fries. Is it any wonder we're the fattest nation on earth - by far?

I did not watch the show. Teenagers did not become this obese overnight; it began when their parents were in charge of caring for them. There is no excuse for any parent allowing their child to become obese from anything other than a true medical reason. How shameful! That child's comfort came from food, not his/her parents.

It is the parents.
You have to teach children the right things to eat.
And leave it up to them to dictate whether they are hungry or not.
Don't be so strict with the 3 mealtime thing.
My daughter eats healthy snacks throughout the day. Gets small meals too, and milk. If she wants a snack say an hour before dinner, she can wait until dinner time so we can eat together.
It's about relaxing your feelings about food and listening to the body.
