I don't know about Mexico but I just got back from Peru and most of the commercial baby food there, both jars and baby cereal boxes, was packed with sugar. I did find some imported Beech Nut jars at a chi chi grocery store over there but it cost almost $2 per jar (which is a lot for Peruvians). I was regretting not bringing more jarred food from home.

it usually depends on the store you go to. Here in California, they run anywhere between .50 cents and 1.00, usually depending on the stage either 1st foods 2nd or 3rd foods. obviously the higher the food stage the more they cost.
I would suggest going to a store like wal-mart or target, they seem to have better deals. I buy my son's gerbers and formula at wal mart and get better deals. I buy him the double container gerbers for like .96 cents, you can't beat that. They have two containers of the same fruit or vegetable and it's two feedings.

My husband is originally from Mexico, and when our oldest was 2.5 and our twins were 9.5 months we went to Rivera Maya, it was awesome, but we brought EVERYTHING we needed. It was a HUGE pain, I felt as though we had just one suitcase full of water and baby food. Really I think we did... BUT I was not about to chance it. Although we stayed at a beautiful resort, it wasn't worth the chance of the babies getting sick and then having to find a doctor in Mexico, no thank you. This was before the airlines were so strict with the liquid, we actually had 3 gallons of water in our duffel bag that we brought on... Looking back it was a huge pain in the butt, but well worth it. I didn't have one sick baby!!! And I just felt much better myself! I know it is a pain but think of how you would feel if the baby did really get sick? Mommy to 5 y.o., 3 y.o. twins and 35 weeks pregnant with baby #4 a boy!

The smaller the jar, the cheaper it is. 1st foods are around 50 cents then third foods are no more than 80 cents a jar.

Depends on the store and what stage of baby food. Should be less than a dollar though.
