There was a cricket in my bathroom and it was so big and gross I didn't want to smash it because it would get guts all over, ya know? So I put a bucket over it. Now how long until it dies? Or starves to death?

That is the slow way to kill it. Will live for at least a day. It should be on the top of the bucket inside so you can pick up the bucket and flush it now. Crickets like to be in high places if possible. They get loose in our pet shop all the time. We have house geckos loose just for the purpose of eating the escaped ones.

well insects have very low oxygen requirements compatred to mammalsa, birds, or any other animals for that matter. The volume of air contained inside a bucket can probably last a cricket about a week or so (depends on size of bucket of course). Crickets also dont require as much food as one might think, this is also related to their low oxygen requirements and low metabolic rate of respiration. I recommend you release it anyways, because doing what you are doing is no doubt just going to make it have a very slow and long drawn out death.... Carma come back around you know......

Pour some gasoline on it and light it on fire.

PS: They smell really good when you burn them, almost like bacon.

Why not just set it free in your garden or outside of the house ?

Don't kill it because it scares you.

Set it free, please.
