My sentiments entirely....Dogs are not born 'dangerous' it's the way they've been conditioned by 'dangerous' owners is more the case.
In the highly published case of the two rottweilers that killed the baby in Leicester, peoples knee-jerk reaction was to blame the dogs. The dogs were vicious guard dogs by all accounts, where the hell were the parents, why was a baby left in the same room as the dogs? Like you say, lazy parents, irresponsible and damn right stupid!!

you're so suitable. what's using blaming the animals that are being taunted through kids if the youngsters are those that are frightening the animal in the first position. Animals won't be able to come to a call no matter if to attack their provoker or ask them to quit because that's the in elementary words way that they could teach that they are aggravated and once they're performed, the newborn might want to develop into badly injured, it quite is what they deserve for frightening the animal. If individuals are blaming the animals, then they're truly incorrect, fairly, they should be blaming the moms and dads for no longer caution the youngsters what takes position in the journey that they galvanize the animal.

I agree! I am so tired of people punishing animals for the actions of belligerent children or "dog parents" who are unwilling to train their animals! There is no such thing as a naturally mean animal (excepting those with mental problems), just stupid people who turn them that way.
I truly believe that anyone who gets an "agressive breed" dog should have to sign a contract saying that they will train the animal, and that any actions that should have been prevented by training are their responsibility, not the dog's.
They have actually outlawed pit bulls in my area because they're "too dangerous!" People who already owned them had to give them away or have them put to sleep! What is the world coming to?

I totally agree, children aren't taught the rights and wrongs with animals because too many people think it's a 'dumb' animal so it doesn't matter. The reason a dog gets put down after an attack is because of the old saying that once it tastes blood, it will kill again. I think it's an old wives tale myself, like you say, the dog is usually defending it's self. My children were taught from as young as being able to reach out that it's wrong to pull their fur, tails and ears. My youngest is 16 months now and knows he can only stroke them. Ignorance on parents behalf, they need teaching as much as kids.

I agree with you in that many parents these days do not accept any responsibility for the upbringing of their children. But at that the same time, if a dog attacks and kills a child, the animal is usually running loose without supervision, no? Then that's the dog owner's fault also.

I do not know the answer to that.
We had a full blood American Chow. He just about made this little boy a little girl. It could have been REALLY bad, or worse. The Judge understood the Chow was protecting his property. The parents, and the little boy admitted that they had played with the chow in the house before.
All of the charges were dropped, and as well as the probation.
It is sad to say. People are looking at children as PAYCHECKS. They are looking at every option to get money. And not to be a PARENT to a loving child. There is not any discipline in homes and more.

Valid point. Todays parents are silly, too dumb and irresponsible to have kids.
I worked in a shop. The parents let their 3 year old child loose in the shop. The child then trips over after going under some shop fittings, bruising her face.
The parents allege it was the shops fault - that the shop is responsible for the kid and not them.
They threatened us with legal action - we ignored all their letters, and told them to take us to court if they wished. They never did.

Should the owner of a dog not teach the dog not to attack?
I have a dog[border collie ] and she is around kids all the time and knows when to back away. Dogs who are not well trained or pacified can't be let out on the streets. Sorry

Learning how to train your dog will improve your life and hers, enhance the bond between you, and ensure her safety and it can be a lot of fun. Dogs are usually eager to learn, and the key to success is good communication. Your dog needs to understand how you’d like her to behave and why it’s in her best interest to comply with your wishes. because today it is easier to point the finger at someone or something else that is to "blame" rather than take responsibility ourselves. My husband had a beautiful and well behaved pit bull and since all of these stupid people want pitbulls banned, someone poisoned her. she didn't do anything to anyone. she was a victim of ignorance.
