Very true. I was in the store with my 13 year old son and I was looking at a bottle of Orville Redenbacher popping corn. He asked me "What is that?" I was like, "popcorn." He looked so confused that I bought it and cooked it that evening on the stove, to show him how we used to make it in the "olden days"!

No, it could have been soggy from the steam interior. Microwave popcorn burns if left in the microwave after the kernels have all popped using fact the popping releases steam protecting the temperature decrease and it strikes the popped kernels around protecting them from sitting on the aluminum decrease floor of the bag. using fact of transformations in the contents, microwave popcorn ought to in no way be left unattended so as that this is bumped off as quickly as popping stops. It takes purely approximately 30 seconds previous of entirety for burned kernels to smoke and a sprint extra to burst into flame. the former instruments off smoke alarms, the latter ruins the microwave. At my artwork internet site a popular sign promises "if the smoke alarm is going off, you pay for the emergency run, $a hundred and twenty"

Get a deep boiler or pot, add a little oil and pour in 1/2 to 1 cup of kernals, cover and turn on low to medium heat. My dad had one of those popcorn poppers where you pop it and turn the popper upside down when it's through. Those were the days!!

i am 66 yrs. old, we popped popcorn in an open pot with a little oil in the bottom of it and had to shake it constantly to keep it from burning...I go way back to before microwaves, computers, etc. we had a wood burning stove, an icebox, no television, no automatic washing machine, my grandmother was first to get a washing machine with a wringer on it...lots of changes in these past years...some good, some bad..

we had this experiment once in our school lab.. way back in gradeschool.. we popped corn using the burner... and a clean beaker! ^^ as far as i can remember.. i even brought powdered cheese.
additional info: popcorns pop because the grains still have moisture inside of them.. so when the corn is heated, the moisture tend to burst out of the grain, popping it.
