my friend got an abortion because she is only 14 and it would have ruined her life to have a baby. her parents would have kicked her out and the father was dening the baby up and down.

I got an abortion about a year ago for very similar reasons. I was 15, the father and I had broken up, and I knew my family would have been extremely upset, but now I seriously regret it.

Even though I wasn't ready, I think that I should've at least finished what I had started and then put the baby up for adoption. I now have dreams about the baby I never had, and am filled with serious regret.

I believe in the mother's right to choose, and in the end it's all her decision, but I feel that if there is any other possible way, to avoid abortion.

Having a baby is a big responsibility and it shouldn't be taken lightly, But Its a personal decision that the person having the abortion will have to live with for the rest of there life and some women crack as its a horrible feeling to know you have decided to end a child's life but that's why its there decision nobody else, I was 16 when I first fell pregnant and refused to have an abortion as I knew I couldn't live with that kind of guilt but that's my decision and I lost my baby anyway. I ended up having my son at 17 and once again that was my choice I wasn't with the father and my parents were not happy but I now have a beautiful son that has made me stronger. I also have a daughter and another on the way but now I'm married. I wouldn't change my life but its because I was determined to do what I felt was right and that was to keep my baby, If your friend felt aborting the baby was the right thing to do then that's up to her, its not wrong for everybody, but Its not something you should do as a form of contraception or even something you can just brush off as this is a major moment in her life she will remember for the rest of her life.

I'm so sorry about your friend. The rightness or wrongness of the decision is something that she'll have to decide for herself.

I'm just curious, but, to all the people who said that she could have just given the baby up for adoption, I have a few questions. First off, after her parents kicked her out, where was she supposed to go? How was she supposed to get the prenatal care she and the baby would need? And then what would happen to her after she gave up the baby? Remember, she's fourteen. She's not even legally allowed to work. I just hope that each and every anti-choice person on this board thinks hard about that and supports fully funding shelters and health care.

I think it is every woman's right to chose. I believe that abortion is okay to have done if:

Something is wrong with the baby and would be in a suffering state.
If the mothers life was in danger if she carried the baby to term.
If the mother was raped.

But i DO NOT BELIEVE abortion should be used as birth control.

If you don't want to become pregnant then dont have sex or get on birth control. Birth control is far less expensive than getting abortions.

I hope she's learned a valuable lesson. 14 is too young to be having sex, especailly unprotected ... and she ought to lose the dirtbag boyfriends. Her parents would have been dead wrong had the kicked her out, just so you know. I never understood how parents can turn their backs on their children like that, especially at a time when they need them the most.

Quit the sex, dump the loser, spend more time with Mom and Dad.

And to speak to your question whether it's right or wrong ... It's not for any of us to say. For now, it's a choice (and I hope it stays that way)

I think that it depends on the circumstances, if you were raped would you want to keep this baby?? It would not be created out of love but out of hate, I know people do not agree with that but I would not want my wife or daughter or anyone i was close to, have to go through a pregnancy like that... other than that I do not think it is right, if you are not going to use protection then expect to get pregnant if you do not want to get pregnant DON'T have sex!!

I am pro-choice but am also curious as to where a 14 year old would even go to get an abortion. There are restrictions.
Maybe she'll realize too, at 14 she really has no business having sex.

i think its wrong. it can actully destroy someones life ,that she will not be ale to give birth again in the future .its better to suffer than to kill an unborn child. .how do u feel if u are going to get killed? imagin the baby growing up and he became a man and he will feel so happy saying "mom i love u for not giving me up" and believe it or not u will feel haapy also. well tell her to take care of her self

if she is generally a responsible person but made a mistake and made a bad choice once, no

if she is being a burden to society (my tax dollars will probably pay for her welfare to support her and her kids because she wont be able to work) and she has a problem of not being able to stop spreading her legs to every guy she is with, then yes.

That depends on your feelings on the topic. Everyone has their own opinion on the topic, so right or wrong, it's the decision that was made by your friend. Whether you believe it to be right or wrong you should stand by her and provide support for her. Just be there to talk and listen and don't criticize her.
