No, you don't forget them but your first loyalty is to your wife. Help your parents in any way you can as long as it doesn't interfere with your own family. Many marriages fall apart because of mama's boys and interfering in-laws. You need to know where to draw the line.

I don't think anyone forgets their parents, not without very severe brain damage anyway. Some people are too wrapped up in their own concerns to take the time to show their love and appreciation. Some even get "too busy" before they get married or have kids. Other people remember their parents but the memories are too painful to relive. My father molested me and fractured my brother's skull. I still value him but there's no way that I'm going to drive 4000 miles to see him...EVER. On the other hand, I am very close to my mother (she was not present for the abuse) and I would do almost anything for her.

You have apparently become smarter than your parents. This is what they call "getting too big for your britches."

Your parents will probably have a least twenty on us as far as wisdom and knowledge.

If you are from Texas, do you know what the "Homestead Law" is about? A lot of our parents remember how it came about, and understand why it still exist today. It is a great way to save money on property taxes levied against your home.

If not, just remember that you might need their help raising your own children. They have lots of experience doing that I bet.

no my mother and i were very close, and i l would still want her when i got sick. I liked to go over to her house and put my head on her shoulder and play with her hair.
she was always there for me no matter what and i will be the same way with my kids. I think family is very important and even more after you have kids. its nice to have an experienced babysitter that you don't have to pay for.
and even if they cant watch you kids think about how much you love your kids. you were once their kid and they will always love you the way you love your children.

and if the person i fell for didnt agree then tough family comes first and your parents had your heart first

I would never forget about my mom or even my grandparents. I travel 8 hours every few months to visit my grandma. And my mom lives 4 blocks from me, I still call her a few times a week. My Mom became my best friend when I became an adult....go figure she really does know more then I thought.

I agree with you , one should always keep their parents close at all times, just because you get married does not mean to put your parents aside.

Of course, and now that I am a parent myself, I realize the love my parents had for me, just as I have for my daughter. I always knew they loved me, but now I realize just how much. I will always love and value my parents.
