1) A great non-toxic carpet stain remover is club soda. Soak spot immediately with soda and blot until the stain is gone.

GOOF-OFF!!! I love the stuff, it will remove almost anything and is safe to use on MOST surfaces. Goo-gone may work but is a citrus based cleaner and is not nearly as strong, whereas Goof-off is a solvent based cleaner (xylene to be specific) and is much more effective.
