I am a Pakistani girl and Pakistani women do go to OB/GYNS. If you have not visited Pakistani lately, do it now. You will see a whole lot of good changes.

Not really. A lot of different cultures have taboos in place that prohibit a woman from exposing her genital area to anyone except her husband. Maybe having a check up is seen as a way that her virginity will be taken.
It's sad though, especially since we now know that cervical cancer is caused by a virus. All women should be tested and treated if they have it. And the sooner in a woman's life she starts getting regular checkups, the better the chance that anything she might have will be detected early..

not really, their health system is behind ours, and also many more of their women don't part take in sexual relationships until they are older, and then it is normally just with one man their whole life, which reduces the risk of the getting the human papilonas virus, sti's, or cancer... which is usually caused from the human papilonas virus. Also there woman give birth naturally at home more often then here, and use midwifes and family/friends to help with the birth compared to the standard hospital and drs procedure used here.

It is caused by a misguided sense of modesty. Perhaps if there were more female ob/gyns, they would be able to go.
