I have read in two places that high temperatures will kill fleas and their counterparts. My home is totally infested by our animals. An exterminator is coming on Monday but I wanted to do what I can now! I am wondering if anyone has heard this or even used this... Thanks!!!!

A dogs normal body temp is right around 100 degrees so no 95 won't hurt them. Dry air is a sure way to get rid of them because they thrive on humidity. Combat bug bombs work real well and they also kill off brown recluse spiders.

Fleas thrive in warm weather. Call your local university agricultural extension service for info on flea susceptability to temperature variations (the exterminator will likely not provide information which is inconsistent with earning a fee). Usually at least two treatments required for fleas because the chemical does not kill eggs; recommended time between treatments is two weeks. The pro may contend that one treatment will suffice because of the specialized and restricted use chemical he applies. If a substantial infestation, you had best plan for multiple treatments.

High temperatures of even 103F+ for 100 days (Dallas summers) wont kill the ankle bighting creatures. Maybe if you set your place on fire, but that would cause a mess of other problems. Bug Bombs (raid & hotshot) I've used and they work great. Ortho flee powder that is sprinkled on the floor will help, the longer you leave it down the better. I've heard (never tried) boxite will kill them too, not sure how or if its true though. The breeding cycle is something like 45 days, so make sure to repeat the process about every 30 days.

Not a chance. Since you have a exterminator coming in a few days I wouldn't recommend a bug bomb. Try setting a pan of water with a little dish soap in it under a lamp near the floor. Also you will need to have the exterminator come a few more times since some chemicals won't kill the eggs. Talk to him about scheduling a few more visits.

NO..........the worst plague of flees I have incountered was because of hot, dry summer combined with the fact the property was surrounded by sandy soil which they love to breed in.They usually come from outside so use surface sprays near all entrances and bath and protect animals regularily. There are some plants that you can maybe grow around your home that will help deter these pests, if you want to go for a more natural choice. Check with nursery.

High temps makes the condition worse.

That's not true. If you have them indoors, you can use the stuff in the cans to get rid of them. Bug Bombs. Make sure you follow the instructions so you don't blow up your house.
