I'm not too clear on what you are looking for but here goes:
Open My Computer
cl C: to select it
cl View
choose Details
You should see a list of drives.

go to "my computer"... and it should say CD-RW drive if it's a burner

read the front of the vdrw drive if it says cdrw there you go

go to my computer, and see if it says "dvd drive", or something with a "-r" or "-rw" on the name.
