Is your period late? First of all black blood is called "old blood" so it just might be that your period stopped too soon last month or that your period is late and the blood has turned black. I really don't think its anything of major concern but you might want to see your doctor, its always best to check with your doctor about things like this if for no other reason than to set your mind at ease..

You are having a long period and I know that it sucks. The black blood that is appearing is old blood and you may be having some problems where you need a D&C to scrape the lining of your uterus if it continues. I would go back to the doctor and tell him that you bleed red but then at the end of a three week period it is black. The doctor can take it from there.

A period lasting three weeks is something that should be treated immediately. It could be a sign of many things. The black coloring of the blood does happen sometimes, depending on your diet and bad habits. Sometimes, it does mean a lack of blood oxygenation, though. The combination of sign is bad and you should be seen ASAP, even if it means a trip to the ER.

It is very, very likely that you've miscarried (spontaneous abortion) and need to see your doctor to arrange a D & C.

I have experienced the same symptoms in my late teens (after becoming sexually active) and the doctor did an ultrasound. She found that I had been pregnant and there was nothing left but the empty sac. See your doctor ASAP no matter how embarrased you may feel about an exam when this is happening.

That means congeled blood and you should see a doctor. Fresh blood is bright red.
This sounds like you are having some internal bleeding and it is congelling until forced out.
3 weeks is too long and dark thick blood tells you something is not right. could be nothing or something that needs looking after.

Seriously, call and get an appt. with a gynocologist. Happened to me once and there are a number of things that could be going on. Hormonal inbalances, could you have been pregnant? You may have had a miscarriage. Go get it checked out asap.

Hey the same thing happened to me except my period was red sometimes and not black, but brown. But it went away the third week like at the end. I don't know why that happened, but maybe it was because i was eating diet pills, and not eating right, like, not eating enough. Oh and sometimes, when you eat really cold stuff or drink really cold stuff, it turns your blood brown.

Black usually is old blood, but it's best to contact your Dr. or Nurse, and ask them. They are the Professionals, and it's better to get your advise from them. Good Luck.....
