Well, you cannot and that is a thing I have wished that sometimes a subject comes along that is so good, you wish that it could continue because we have barely scratched the surface of the question. However there is one thing that you 'can' do...when an answer comes up that is really evocative, send that person a note telling them so and that you would like to discuss the subject further. Many people here have a group of people that they pass subjects to within the group and respond to them in kind. So another thing is to create a blog and write your opinions in them. Then people see your answers here, think 'oh that is interesting' then click on your name and comment to you there. I have done this lots with people who give interesting answers.

I would like to answer you on 4 levels:
1. I thought Answers was more about people trying to collect as many opinions as possible - then they make their own decisions, draw their own conclusions based on how much they agree with and feel informed by the general consensus. It, I thought, was also a means of addressing a dilemma where the individual doesn't have a starting point or the information they have so far feels too limited.
2. I would recommend your approach to be 'be the other person' = in other words consider that you were posing the question (try and imagine the viewpoint the asker is taking) - then consider what kind of information you would be looking for from the responses you hopefully get - that then should help direct how you answer the questions.
3. Don't worry about being 'creative' (I get the feeling you feel impressed by some of the answers you've seen) - be yourself and answer honestly - that's all most askers are looking for. If you feel particularly informed about something and want to pass it on to an asker - do it - don't worry about what others are thinking - more often than not many will read your answer and think 'oh that's interesting' or 'no, I don't agree with that' or 'I'd never thought about that like that before ....' much the way you do when you read others' answers.
4. Don't be overly impressed with answers given by others, no matter how creative you think they are - most of us learnt through exact interaction like this on Answers - many of us get up early to practice!!!! (joke!!)
You just keep going - you're doing alright!.

I don't know that you can have an open debate on the answers section, not sure it is meant to be that way? What you can do if all you really want to do is tell them what you think is either post it in additional space or you can click on their pics and check them out and then maybe answer one of their questions or if they have an email or a web address check it out. I guess that is about all I can think of. Not sure that you can do what your wanting to do under this exact format. That is all.

If you click onto their ID you may be able to email them, although Yahoo! Answers keep the actual address confidential.
If they want to respond they can if not? Well that's up to them, but if they do that's okay too.
If you both have IM Messenger you can also correspond in real time, but not with me at four o'clock in the morning! Sweet dreams

The closest thing answers has to a debate platform is the forum. Otherwise you just keep posting questions.

You might want to try a newsgroup. Go to google and click on "more" to the upper right of the search bar, and type philosophy or whatever you want under groups.

i agree with you . you see so many answers from plonkers, conversely, you can get some really great answers from people that seem to be on the same level as you, and answering their reply would be great. if there is a way, i would also like to know it

I do like the format though. It prevents one person from dominating the dialogue.
