I have several relatives that have a walnut tree. 1 tree does not produce enough to make much money. The time involved in cracking them does not make it worth while and selling them in hull does not either. Let the squirrels have them.

Black walnuts, while still green and mature are a wonderful medicinal for removing ring worm or for Viet Nam vets who still have jungle rot to stop the itching and burning from this. Just cut so that the greenish sap from the walnut can be rubbed on the itching area. Guaranteed to stop all the itching and cure ringworm.
The shelled nutmeats are delicious. They require a lot of work but are worth every smashed thumb. Try them in a pound cake or in sugar cookies or icecream..Yum!
The whole ripe nut with the gooey black outer shell can be soaked in a mixture of turpentine and water. Just let the nuts stay in the mixture for several weeks. Makes a wonderful wiping stain for furniture.

I grew up with a black walnut tree in my yard. It really depends on where you are from and how much work you want to put into it.
The forest services in most states will pick up black walnuts. Otherwise there are many wholesalers who will take your walnuts for you. This is a good option if you don't wanna put in the time and effort it takes on your own. Additionally, there's a section on e-bay's website where you can place a request for someone to sell your nuts, and they'll find you!
Doing it yourself is time consuming and, well, dirty. They stain everything they come into contact with. However, you can make money at it if you you really are willing. The website below is a great source of info on how.

Wild cherry timber many times are actually not touched until eventually they dry, yet it is while horses will devour them and reason problems. It does generally take quite lots and maximum horses won't devour them in the event that they have sufficient different issues to devour. Choke cherry? i'm uncertain what you're calling chokecherry, however the wild cherry does incorporate cyanide in its leaves. so a techniques as walnuts some horses are tender yet maximum won't devour walnut leaves or hulls. I even have seen some horses take a tentative chew yet I even have not seen one devour sufficient to lead them to ill. you're actually not meant to apply walnut shaving besides the indisputable fact that. the main you will do with the black walnuts is plant some extra by pushing the nuts into the floor!

Oh, they are the most delicious tasting nut!
First you have to get rid of that green husk. That's fairly easy. Then you have to crack them. They are very hard to crack. I remember hitting them with walnuts when I was a kid, but I've heard of people putting them in a gunny sack or other contrivance and putting them under the car wheels and running the wheels over them to crack them.
You really need one of those nut picks to get the meat out of the little channels and canels.
When you have the nutmeats ready, you can put them in a variety of things--cookies, spice cakes, oatmeal with nuts and apple chunks. Anything you use regular nuts for. There are good sites on line for recipes for using black walnuts.
You are so lucky if you have access to black walnuts. You should check to see what they cost on line. It's crazy!

I remember my mom laying them in the driveway (We lived on a farm) and running them over with the car. After a few days the green husk would fall off and we would crack them open and eat the walnuts right out of the shell. They were delicious. Now if you want them that way you pay a pretty penny so I think you could make some money on them if you want.

Process them if time is not a problem or sell. People make cakes with them and much more. They are high quality walnuts. You should be able to get a reasonable amount of dough from them.

Find some land, plant more trees, then in 40 years, sell the wood and get rich. Black walnut wood is worth a fortune to furniture makers.

The green shells will stain your hands and clothes, he is right. Once you remove the shells, you have a viable product. In Canada, they are prime. They take the whole nut and make furniture stain from them by boiling them whole. Processing them yourselves will bring a higher price than selling them with the shells, it just depends on how much time you want to devote to them. They are used in baking, cakes, cookies and Christmas specialties. Check with a bakery in your area, too. Good Luck!
