I agree with the post above, this is a psychological thing. You must be fearless. I see many players who are afraid to give up their body when going after the ball. The most succesful players are the ones who never think about the size or speed of the opponent, or what will happen if you colide with them. You may get bruised and hurt, but most offen it is the tentative player who suffers the most injuries. If you think about yourself, that will slow you down. You must put aside everything else and put 110% into the game. I know it is cliche, but it is true. Go all out, expect the other guy (or girl) to back off and give ground first.
How many times have you wathced games where the other team is just getting every ball, every touch first, ect? This is because they are going for the ball and ignoring the other team's players...run through them, step around them, jump over them, whatever it takes. I am not saying you should foul, though playing all out will get you some fouls from time to time.
Good luck!

When you're defending, never ever give the person with the ball any time or room. If they ever dribble past you, go back and try to get the ball back no matter what. That's not easy to do when you're tired, but in the end, I think it's a psychological thing.
When you have the ball, you'll have to use all your body to protect it. It's not enough to use your legs in soccer. You'll have to work out, get stronger, and use all that strength to become an aggressive soccer player.

Well, i know if you run for the ball and not wait for it to come to you all the time.
That should help. Don't just lay there when you fall or act like you are dying
when someone kicks you by accident trying to get the ball. Use your head, body to stop the ball or send the ball out...lots of action will make you look very agressive and you will enjoy the game more............good luck..

Yeah some are correct in saying develop technical skills.Try this. Play as much one v one or at least 4 v 4. You will have no choice but to be very active and challenging the ball all the time. If you see player who are aggresive ask and see where it come from. Most from small sided games, street style.

If you're a defender then approach the person with the ball sideways at an angle, so that if he/she runs past you with the ball you'll be able to run with him/her stride for stride. Also, practice faking as if you're going to take the ball from the player by taking a quick step toward the player and then moving back.
-This will force the player to either try to move the ball past you or backtrack.
-Practice slide tackles and time then right. You can allow a player to move the ball past you and then at the last moment push the ball away from him/her.
-Just remember, when a player with the ball comes up to you, never get caught flat-footed..meaning don't face the player face to face, but sideways at an angle so you can easily turn and run with him/her.

I used to have that problem. That's kind of why I don't do soccer. Well actually, the main reason is that at the school I go to now, it's pretty much a cross country team where they have to run three miles a day and I'm lazy like that. But it's kind of like you have to get in the zone, you know? You have to stop being like "Aww, what a nice world this is" and more like "I'm going to kick that beeping ball" Don't worry about kicking people, just be like "I'm going to kick everything" You won't, of course, your kindness will balance it out, but always get into it during games. Run up to that ball and kick it like it said something about your momma! Idk, it seems ridiculous, but just get in that mode during games and you'll suddenly become good and people will say "Wow"

Become a striker, then look at Messi, does he look like he kicks the **** out of 7 feet people after going to the disco and getting drunk? You don't need to be big, strong and muscled to be a FOOTBALL player.
