A liberal is a left brain thinker, thinking of others, while the conservative is a right brain thinker thinking of self.

Problem is two fold.

We fail to acknowledge that both left and right wing can be corrupted, ie welfare fraud is similar to corporate fraud.

We fail to acknowledge that the religious right ignores the religious left. In fact religion is a left side brain function.

The greatest problem with liberal and conservative politics is the polarization of ideas and truths.

We should learn from the eagle that uses both left and right wings working together to fly....

In Canada the liberals are leaning more to socialism just like the NDP that is a socialist party the two are coming together, I would not be surprised to see them merge God help us all if that happens, as for the conservatives they are giving the people back their power, they are also giving back our traditions like the right to bare arms to name a few, we need this government in order to move ahead and develop this country, something the liberals and the NDP do not want to do,

There is no CORRECT definition since your asking to define a broad idealogy. Liberal in the sense that your asking (I assume politically) is an ideal party. Liberals tend to be drawn to ideals and change. Conservative tend to be protect the status quo, or want less change. Or change to how things were.

The Conservative Party (officially the Conservative & Unionist Party) is currently the second largest political party in the United Kingdom in terms of sitting Members of Parliament (MPs), and the largest in terms of public membership. It is also the most successful political party in history in terms of election victories, and is the oldest extant political party in the world. The current leader is David Cameron, who as Leader of the Opposition heads the Shadow Cabinet. The political stance is traditionally centre right.

The Conservative Party is descended from the Tory Party of the eighteenth and nineteenth Centuries. Its members are still commonly referred to as Tories and the party is still often referred to as the Tory Party.

Though the Conservatives were in government for two-thirds of the twentieth century and are often referred to as the 'natural party of government', they have been in opposition in Parliament since losing the 1997 election to the Labour Party under Tony Blair.

Liberal Party is the name of dozens of political parties around the world. It usually designates a party that is ideologically liberal, meaning that they advocate individual rights and civil liberties, and sometimes left wing, meaning that they are egalitarian and believe in the redistribution of wealth from rich to poor. However, there are also many Liberal Parties which subscribe to classical liberalism and therefore support a mostly unregulated free market, or who are actually more conservative in nature than their opponents, or whose views are right wing, libertarian, or difficult to categorise
