Bluing is what you find mainly on firearms it's the difference between a blued or stainless steel or crome fire arm. Bluing is actually an colored acid that eats into the metal leaving a bluish tint behind. the more bluing, applications, the darker and richer the color will be. you can buy bluing at your local sport store or call gun shops that have a gunsmith working there and have him give you some direction on how to and your project will come out just fine. hope this helps.

Good answers have been given.

Just remember that the 'bluing' process is actually a controlled rusting of the metal. The metal is bare when the 'bluing' is applied.
