First, you don't open the motherboard, you open the case. Second, how depends on the model - which you don't seem to think is important.

It COULD be to large buttons, lighter in color, on the top and bottom of the computer. Or maybe not. Hard to say when you don't know what kind of Dell it is...

You mean open the case? Look for two screws on the top and bottom of the back side of the case right along the side. You need to remove the ones on the right hand side if the back of the case is facing you. It might not be screws though, from what I remember dell has cases that are no-tools-required. Anyone once those are removed, you should be able to slide that side panel of the case back to expose the inside of your computer. There's also a possibility that the side panel could open like a door.

feel around the edges of the case you should see some little tabs or buttons which may require a little work to open.

once you get it open be careful how you clean it!!!! water is bad. soap is bad. static electricity is bad also.

if you are trying to clean out dust use some compressed air sold at electronics and office supply stores.

if there is somthing else use ipropropeline (probably miss spelled) alcohol

refrain from using anything that could build a static charge. like a dry rag or somthing.
