Does one have to have a certain GPA for college when studying psychology? Can anyone with any GPA major in it? I'm in high school right now (11th grade) with an average 3.33 GPA and I'd love to go to a state (University of California) college and major in psychology. Will it be good enough? Any tips are appreciated. Thanks!

Should be good enough. Although if you think you want to get a graduate degree in psychology, you will need to stay on top of your GPA in college, as psychology PhD programs are highly competitive and a 3.33 might not cut it then. Undergraduate programs in psychology aren't that competitive though. At most schools, it's actually kind of a blow off major. As far as getting into the University of California goes, visit their admissions page to learn about their requirements and check out average test scores and GPA of students accepted at each campus.

Admissions looks at a variety of things when determining whether or not to admit you to their college (GPA, SAT's, difficulty of classes taken, extracurricular activities, etc.). What you plan on majoring in does not figure much in that decision. Your GPA in your college classes (particularly those in your major) would be considered if you wanted to go on into graduate school in your field (which would be a good idea in the psych field since you can do little in the job world with a BS in psychology).

if you are going to an university you'll need to begin general classes for about a year before you can enter into a specific college (subject). once you have completed all your general classes you can talk to a counsoler about the qualifications to enter into that program. for now just get in, and worry about that later. by the way, if you have the chance to go away to college, GO! you might be lonely at first but i can not begin to tell you how fun it is. it was the time of my life!

It depends on which school you apply to. For some schools, your GPA is enough. For others, it's not. Look up admission requirements for the schools you're interested in before applying.
