hmm...but the officers did not say anything and asked us not to bring in anymore. If they are to fine us, they will tell and fine us straight away.

It is possible that you could receive a ticket/fine by mail, but I would think that if a Ranger at a checkpoint took down your name, he or she would inform you of the consequences you might face. Maybe nothing will happen this time, but your name's on a list, and if you get popped again, you'll be ticketed/fined.

Bringing in chewing gum illegally into Singapore is a punishable offence by fine. Singapore has the dubious distinction of being the only country in the world to ban import and use of chewing gum. Only "Nicolette" gum which is used to help smokers to kick their smoking habit is allowed in Singapore
