How come there are stereotypes that say African-Americans and Hispanics aren't smart, live in the ghetto, rap, go to jail, and overall be convicts of America? I mean, I have a 4.8 GPA, I live in a middle-class neigborhood, I listen to everything from rap to rock to classical, and want to work for Microsoft or something... and I have no intention of going to jail... and I'm African-American.

Jealous people who love to scapegoat people who don't
look like them or act like them for their own failures in life.
The people who make those stereotypes are usually narrow-minded
people who don't give a crap about anyone else except their own
kind. They would rather trample humanity than work with it.

Yeah I don't like stereotypes either.I know like when I first meet somebody they look at my hair.I have long pretty hair.Anyway their first question about me is they want to know if my hair is real. They act like just because I'm black I can't have hair.I know a couple of people at my school would say I had white people hair I didn't like the way they put it.I know I don't appreciate the ghetto stereotype either I'm broke but I've never been in the ghetto or projects I've always lived in nice new palaces like my big new house I love it.I really do get irritated and tired of stereotypes.I don't like when people look at me and assume they know what I'm all about.I'm too deep for anybody to know everything about me by just taking one look at me.

Because it seems that every stereotype is based upon some very lose facts or perceptions.

Consider this: Perception is reality.

Like this really stupid joke: Why don't blacks marry hispanics? Cause the kids would be too lazy to steal- this goes on the stereotypes that blacks are lazy, and hispanics are theifs. Is this true? Obviously not.

Because so many people live down to the stereotypes--giving people like them a bad name--for every african american like you there are fifteen bad ones promoting the stereotypical image. I don't understand why people do it, but they do and you just have to accept that--people will respect you for being you regardless

because most ppl go off of what they are told, most ppl won't go out and find out stuff for themselves.

i know what you mean though, i have a morbid curiosity with dead things.

where i live though, most people would say i am sick, and that this leads to murdering, but im not mental, and i don;t want to kill anyone.

i want to become a forensics person for the police, to put this little problem to good use.

i suggest you try to take no notice of these stereotypes, and achieve your goals

good luck

You are the exception. Kudos to you. Most stereotypes are true however as they wouldn't be out there.

years ago someone like yourself would be an exception-with more blacks getting an education -people like yourself are not so rare anymore-BUT you are not the norm.
