No, you can't. It says so on Apple's web page.

i understand this does not possibly answer your query, yet enable me in basic terms say that if in any respect achievable, choose for the size up from 8gb on the ipod touch (i think the 32 gb). i realize it somewhat is an added $one hundred yet its truthfully worth it. I easily have the 8gb touch and it somewhat is in basic terms not adequate space for music and apps, and that i don't worry putting strikes because of the fact there isn't adequate space. in certainty, i exploit my old 60gb 5th gen video because of the fact I generally choose extra music form, fairly in the journey that your music flavor expands. I shop each and every little thing from homestead and Trance to classic Rock and metallic to Drum and Bass and Classical because of the fact I on no account understand what i bypass to choose to hearken to. to boot, think of of it this manner, for something you would be utilising very generally (possibly) for the time of here few years, isn't it worth somewhat additional funds to be totally happy? I for one hate being constrained by utilising hardware. My 2 cents.
