Get to a fabric store. They have books with pictures in them and u can pic out a dress u like or several. Then they have the number at the bottom with the pattern number and u get the pattern. U may be able to do two patterns together but seek all the advice u need at the fabric store because most of them are sewers and they can tell u everything u will need from thread to material. good luck and i hope all is well.

Buy some really really cheap fabric and sew a dress in the shape and size you want out of that first. You always make mistakes the first time, remember your first pillow? Okay, then when you get that down, and know where you will encounter difficulties and how to get around them....

You buy some outrageous fabric and go to town. Remember that fabric cut and sewn on the bias looks "designer" and that the extra money put out to make a practice dress are soooo worth it.

If you know anybody who sews ask them and go to fabric stores to see which designs and types of fabrics you like. Practice sewing some things together and then look online for tips on how to sew a dress.
