i think sherwani or nehru jacket as is popularly known is very elangant and dignified.
otherwise casually nothing beats white t-shirt and blue jeans.

It somewhat depends on the physique of the man. But commonly speaking ..best is black well tailored suit is the best among western dress...n an off-white sherwani as an ethnic wear is the best

Either that, or a really expensive suit with a fine tie and shirt and shoes. Expensive matters, cheap suits LOOK cheap. Go Hugo Boss or Armani.
