It's a long shot, but try running the engine with your gas cap off. I've seen a couple of cars that quit running before because the vent on the cap wasn't working. What was happening was that as fuel was drawn out of the tank, it formed a vacuum and the fuel pump wasn't able to work against it.

The sulfuric smell is most likely your catalytic converter, which may or may not be related to the car running poorly.

Good luck!

i own a repair shop,and i have put 3 fuel pumps on one car already this year all were new,and the car was a mustang and all were new ford pumps,its very possible your pump may be bad again,,i have seen it happen a lot,,especially with a lot of the parts being built in other places than the states,other than that you may want to check and see if its getting a good air supply to the engine, if it is, id start checking all the obvious things like the plugs and cap and stuff,this may be one of those repair jobs that you have to check everything out to find it, good luck i hope this help,s,,one other thing you may want to try is the fuel pump relay,it may be breaking down on it i have seen that happen before too,good luck i hope this help,s

I've worked on a vehicle with similar symptoms, check the crankshaft position sensor, a few others to consider- impurities in the fuel-damaged distributor cap-vacuum leak at the intake vacuum hoses. That's just a few, good luck.

You can guess until you have spent your last dollar.
Run the diagnostics to find the trouble codes, and then follow the trouble tree and perform the proper diagnostics and repairs.

Go Here------->

...and scroll down below the descriptions for the procedure for retrieving the codes.

Remember the codes identify a failure in a circuit or system, and not necessarily a specific component.
