List of questions/ creative questionnaires to clients if they asked me to design the logo identity. The goal of the question is to meet the clients' need in getting their logo right on track and get what they want. The questionnaire doesnt need to be heavy, just very casual & relaxing

Hi!

Question #1: What colors do you think represent the over all feel of your company? (Then give a list of colors and how the average person associates that color)...

http://desktoppub.about.com/cs/color/a/symbolism.htm

Then present an example for your client... like the fact that many technology companies use the colors grey/silver, blue, black and red.

Then explain what the colors mean for a company logo... Nuetral and conservative, a serious professional (grey and black), reliable and steadfast (blue), modern (silver) and a power player (red).

Think about it... If you were looking to invest millions of dollars in a technology company, are the above traits something you would want that company to have?

Also explain that colors invoke physical responses... Red makes people hungry, yellow makes people happy... Look at McDonalds and Burger King (and even Chilis)... some of the most recongnized logos out there...

Question #2: Who are your target customers? Age and Gender?

Explain that this will be used when you are trying to determine the shape of the logo. Straight lines (or block type letters) tend to be more masculine... where curved lines tend to be more femine. For example, if you were trying to create a logo for an autoshop... lots of swirls and curvy lines (like cursive writing) might turn a lot of "manly" men off. However, it might be good for a woman's salon.

Show them a logo... like "Curves" fitness center for women with its pink and curves and flowers...

Then show them a product for men like Gillette Fusion... All block letters, straight lines and dark colors...

Also, explain that age is important... will the logo be like a cartoon figure... or will it be serious and professional. Explain that you would not create a little guy in a purple robe with a wizard wand and hat for a lawyers office. But that logo might work for a toy store...

Question #3: What kind of logo would you prefer if your company could not use its name... a simple symbol, an abstract picture, a number or letter, etc...?

Say that Time Warner and CBS has an eye... Microsoft has a window...
http://www.timewarnercable.com/NC/
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/default.mspx

Unisef uses an abstract picture of a woman and child... while the United Way has a hand holding a rainbow...
http://www.nobelpreis.org/portugues/frieden/images/unicef.jpg
http://dailynews.mcmaster.ca/images/UnitedWay_logo.jpg

Dreamworks has the little boy fishing off the moon and Paramount has mountian with a circle of stars...
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DreamWorks
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paramount_Pictures

And Yahoo! is recongnized by a "Y" with an "!" next to it... American Airlines has two "A"s next to each other...

I think these three questions will help you greatly in finding a logo that best fits a company...

the optimum element that has me perplexed is they want an icon that communicates their business enterprise form, yet whilst they don't understand what the call is, have they actually nailed down their business enterprise form? How can somebody outdoors their business enterprise be envisioned to speak "business enterprise call right here" in the event that they don't understand? particularly proceed with warning. I hate to be this type, yet very generally start up-up agencies make poor layout purchasers. And once you're a noob clothier, this is confusing to renowned. regardless of you do continuously, continuously, continuously get a settlement with any freelance client. Agree on the appropriate undertaking, "emblem" would possibly not be descriptive sufficient. appears like they want an icon emblem (think of Apple, Quicktime, and Nike sleek) and not a wordmark (like FedEx, Disney, Kellogs) of course, they are able to't have some thing integrated like Starbucks or Harley Davidson. Get it in writing in the settlement. have they have been given particular business enterprise hues they want you to apply? Do they like to ascertain your artwork in progression? or only contemporary them with a pair recommendations from which they're going to pick? How long do they assume it to take? Get all that for the time of writing in the settlement and you're protecting the two events from fake effect. as quickly as you compromise on precisely what the undertaking is, you are able to agree on a value for layout centers and whilst they are introduced. a million/2 up front? (i prefer to advise you get some money to start up with) or you're able to do it at periods like a million/3 up front, a million/3 whilst they pick a emblem and a million/3 at delivery when you have achieved their rounds of transformations. you additionally can specify what proportion rounds of transformations in the settlement, and that's a stable thought in case you think of they might nit and %. and then exchange their minds and circulate decrease back to the style you had it 5 transformations in the past. I want you the excellent on your undertaking, and in case you have an entire product, placed up a link right here for us to ascertain! :)
