I think the whole island is pergatory, and that everyone from the plane crash is actually dead. Anyone agree? And what other theories do people have, or things they noticed in the movie?

My friend had this really in-depth theory he had heard about the Others being experiments from the Dharma people. Something about changing their DNA to make them immune to some disease that's going to kill the world. And there was something else about them actually all being children (hence their obsession with taking kids) but they've just aged super quickly due to the experimentation. It was really long and detailed, and it came from watching a bunch of orientation videos the writers put all over the Internet. You can find some of them at youtube.com.

I have heard that they are all in comas and the things happening to them are dreams and the people who have "died" on the island have come out of the coma.
the other theory i heard was that they are all in the mental hospital that hurly was in, and they are so disturbed they are playing this game, "being on a deserted island". The flash backs are them talking to the doctor.
now, im beginning to think they just crashed on an island and there is no theory...who knows.
i love the show but part of me wants it to end so that we have all the answers.

No, I disagree. And, in fact, the writers have confirmed MANY times that it is NOT Purgatory, nor a dream. (They've said this on the Podcast).
They did hint that it is based on a scientific theory, and I did some weird theory several months ago that seemed somewhat plausible.
I LOVE that show.

I believe it is purgatory. The writers always say it is or is not whatever they do not want us to know.
My husband and I are actually watching all of season one this weekend.
Even if its not purgatory, the whole idea that it might be is what makes us watch it!!!

i think theyre on a reality show ! well i dont really know but i loooovvveee the show!
