Well all I know is that where I live, a guy would be made fun of for having the name Kaitlyn.

It is a pretty name though.

I think if more parents name their sons Kaitlyn, then it would eventually be accepted as a unisex name like... Ashley or Alex.

my personal point of view, no, that is definitely a girl's name. i guess you are using your girlfriend's name as your screen name since your initial does not start with k. plus you are in rotc, you will be the butt of jokes with fellow men with a girl name.

but then again, maybe they practice out there to name their children with whatever they wanted. when you reach certain age and you want to change your name, consult a lawyer. for me, i will request my parents to pay for it and blame everything on them. unless you love your name that much, in honor of your family heritage, keep it, it will be unique for a guy to have that name, it will spark a very wild conversational piece...

anyway, as long as you love that name, there is nothing wrong with kaitlyn, it does sound girlie but exotic from ireland though...
