I have this friend, we've been friends for a while, and he recently told me that he's had on and off feelings for me...he even asked me to be his girlfriend. I told him how I felt and that i saw us only being friends and now things are pretty awkward between us. We've been trying to sort it out and he's come to the conclusion that he should put aside his feeling and forget about them...I can see he's hurt and since he's my friend I want to help him but I don't know what to do. Any adivce, i'd be grateful for it.

This is something that he is going to have to work out for himself. The only thing you can do is to continue to be his friend.

This is a difficult situation I've been there. I had this friend I met in 5th grade, we were friend clear up until after we graduated I always knew he liked me, he was always trying to make us more than friends. We even were roomates for a while. I made it clear I only wanted to be friends but every time I'd bring a date home he'd throw a big fit and wouldn't talk to me for a few days. We'd get into fights where he'd say he was tired of this whole thing, stop talking to me for a few days and then come back and say he was sorry and that he'd rather have me as a friend than nothing at all. And when I got engaged he threw a BIG fit and we did this back and forth for so many years and finally we just had to go our seperate ways. he was a great guy but I just never liked him that way I couldn't help it. Hope it goes better for you than it did me.

Just keep on doing what you've been doing, being his friend.
It was better for him too find out if you felt the same way he did or else he would have gone always wonder..what if?
At least now you both know how the other one feels.

You total him how you honestly felt about the situation, this was good, now just give him to time to adjust, if he's really your friend he'll come around.
