They can't move to Hamilton unless the league and the Leafs approve it. There is an anti competition rule in place that indicates that no new teams can end up within two hours of another pro team.

They will probably stay in Pitt, although I do like the sound of another Canadian team..."The London Penguins?"

Ideally, the team will be able to stay in Pittsburgh, however that depends if the city council allows a casino and a slot machine liscence to be part of the plans. If not, then the team would move to Either Hamilton, Quebec, or Winnipeg. The Canadian dollar is not as weak as it used to be, and many of the cities mentied have built or plan to build NHL size arenas. However Pittsburgh is a good hockey town when the team is doing well. And the Keystone State battle with Philly is a good rivalry for the NHL.

Well its funny but......every time a team is bought Hamilton comes to the front for a possible home to move a team. Truth is, Hamilton will probably never have a NHL team because of Buffalo and T.O. being so close. Winnipeg is a more likely place but the talk is if Pittsburgh can't build a new arena, Kansas City has offered a $10 million moving bonus and a rent free arena......Geez, think they would have got the message after the Scouts folded!!!!

Hamilton is about 30 minutes from smogtown, so no they won't have two teams. Hopefully they won't have two either.
The atmosphere at the leafs game is terrible as is now.

Winnipeg and Kansas City are two other possibilities to relocate to and are more realistic.

The ONLY way the Pens will stay in Pittsburgh is if they are given a new arena. No new arena, no Penguins in Pittsburgh.

On the news the new team owner said that he'll keep the team in Pittsburgh but he wants Pittsburgh to build a new arena. Right now there is only Mellon Arena and it's really old.

They are staying in Pitt. If the casino bid (arena plan) doesn't work out, which it probably will....then the city of pittsburgh has a plan b for getting a new arena built. Also, SE canada will never get another hockey team......toronto would'nt allow it.

I believe the deal will keep them in Pitt, b/c there is a new arena in the plans already, and that was teh only way the NHL would approve the sale

They are not sure what is going to happen . There is a meeting on December 15th to figure out what their options are. At least that is what they said between the 2nd and 3rd period on the Hot Stove report on Hockey Night in Canada,
