5x-1=34
5x=34+1
5x=35
x=35/5
x=7
this is simple algebra !!!keep the variable x on one side and shift the 1 on the opposite side.....as it moves on to the other side,the - sign changes to +......add 1 to 34 which gets 35 now divide it by 5 which is 7 which is the value of x

12 + 11x - 2 = 5x - 7 + 6x a million. circulate each and all the X's to a minimum of one component of the situation 11x - 5x - 6x = -12 + 2 - 7 2. Simplify 11x - 5x - 6x = 0 -12 + 2 + 7 = -3 0 isn't = -3 ok in line with risk i'm incorrect, or in line with risk you have copied the question out incorrect? or is that what the question develop into asking you in looking?

5x - 1 = 34
first add one to each side
5x - 1 + 1 = 34 + 1
the ones on the lhs (left hand side) cancel out leaving
5x = 35
divide by 5 on both sides
(5x)/5 = 35/5
x = 7
