How old are you? Hamsters are a big responsibilty! You have to be very patience with them because whenever they are scared they will bite you - hard! They can make you bleed. They are also dirty, so you have to clean their cage once a week. You have to make sure they have food and water and have an exercise wheel to get exercise on! Plus you have to be gentel when holding them. They scare easily because they are so small and we are so big!
I would just try to find some way to show them that you have the responsibilty in keeping the cage clean. And maybe saving your allowance (if you have one) and offering to buy it and the cage and supplies (which can be a little costly at first!).
Show them you are mature and responsible enough to take care of one and they may allow it one day.

I have allergies too. I am allergic to rats and cats. But hamsters don't bother me. Can you get a chance to handle somebody else's hamster for a while? This way you could find out before you buy one whether you are allergic to it. If you prove not to be allergic to hamsters, maybe this will make a difference to your parents.

I have had hamsters since I was 3. Syrian (AKA Teddy Bear) hamsters are great for first-time owners.
There have been tons of people on the link below that have persuaded their parents to get a hamster.
On the link below just get as much info as possible, your parents might be impressed with your knowlage.

In this case your parents know best as a hamster would really set off your allergies and a cat would be no better, my daughter once tried a hamster and she only kept it a couple days and had to get rid of it cause of all her sneezing, please listen to your parents......

hamsters are really dirty, they pee in your hands and they poop every where. you'll need to keep cleaning the cage cuz it can stink real bad. I also craved for a hamster when i was younger, but once i actually got some, i really didn't find keeping them to be such fun and i ended up giving them back. they can also run loos in the house, you have to keep looking for them and follow their poop trail... so yeah i don't like hamsters.

Hamsters (and rodents often) are herbivores, their digestive gadget isn't meant to deal with meat. Your hamster will in all risk get ill until eventually the beef passes by using his gadget. in case you're worried, take him to a vet.
