Democrats like Clinton are conservative. We had a surplus, now we have a $9 trillion national debt. Clinton always paid for what he spent. Republicans wanted to wait until after elections to tell Americans what they would cut. Republicans want to end Social Secuirty. They hate it. Republicans don't care about what is good for America, they care about tax cuts for the wealthy. Republicans also don't care if your Mom and Dad starve and live in the streets, it will not effect them. BTw, it is working class who will pay the $2 trillion cost of the Republican war in Iraq and the working class will pay the debt with higer taxes also.
Republicans never pay for their own mistakes, they make sure others to pay it for them.

I'm surprised either side thinks the politicians are doing anything more than buy your votes with their promises. The only reasons Clinton's terms had a good economic run was 2 fold 1st .Com came along during his watch. 2nd the military infrastructure was being drawn down, because Reagan's build up bankrupted Russia to end the cold war.

yes the Democrats know how to eliminate deficits, large increases in taxes. Works every time they think. But it puts us in terrible recessions

There is only one Democrat in history who has balanced the US Govt. budget and that was Bill Clinton. If is wasn't for him the Democrats would be just as bad as the GOP in balancing the budget.

You must be living in the same cave as Goofy Al Gore. The economy is up, gas prices are down, the budget deficit is way down, unemployment is down, you don't have a clue.

The War would mess up even a democrats' budget. They wouldn't make it worse with tax cuts. Just for the record Reagan did the same thing, then had to tax gas, liquor, and finally had to raise taxes.

Republicans talk the talk but can not walk the walk .They are tied to rich backers who have them in their pocket , not all but most . Rush to bailout wall street , needed I agree but without penalties and jail time -- student loans -- oh no

Supply side economics is the reason, give tax breaks to the very rich. Some of these middle and lower class people still believe that they got a tax cut and it is so sad. This is only one of the reasons that we must vote repuglicans out and democrats into congress this year. We need to stop the war and return Americans to prosperity.

They tax, and tax, and tax. And it doesn't mean there's any less of a deficit because they spend, spend, spend, too. And don't forget that we had that little 9/11 thing happen and the subsequent war on terror. That's cost a few bucks.
