Just wondering if this is anything to worry about?

I just turned 20 and have recently noticed a decrease in involuntary erections and sexual thoughts. I'm in a long distance relationship and everythign was fine when we were together. Its just that the thought of sex would give me a strong, lasting erection until recently whereas now its tough to mantain. I'm just wondering what the normal reaction is for guys my age, if they can get it up simply through thought or if they have to masturbate or have the involvement of a partner. Im just wodnering if I should anticipate any performance problems next time I see her and if so what should I do...

kinda freaking out...thanks

You're probably over your sexual peak now, and should expect to have to put a little more effort in. Which in the long run, should make you a far better lover.

Don't anticipate performance problems, or your anxiety will make them more likely!

Besides if your girlfriend lives a long distance away, you may be subconsciously shutting your sex drive down, because you know you can't see her all the time. It probably helps you to remain faithful to her as well.

I wouldn't worry about it at all - you sound normal.

Kinda don't know enough about the subject. Jim - I'm not a doctor damn it- I'm a mechanic. (Sorry old Star Trek joke.)
I'd guess your brain is important, and the sense of touch is too. As she is not there you are only using your brain, and the rest of your senses are not involved as they were, (or will be when you two are together.)
find a way to get a few senses involved, smell her perfume, see her picture, type stuff.
I'm sure you will get wonderful fasinating ideas from the people here. Just hope some are LEGAL! Lol.
Peace.

P.S. You can't be that old -
you didn't mention needing medical help - YET!! LOL!!!
So stop freaking, untill she returns - then freak all you want. (Again try and keep everything legal, or you'll be in another type of long distance relationship.)
Peace!

maybe you should worry. you're supposed to be at your sexual peak now. there should be an increase, not a decrease. a long distance relationship should be due cause for more erections, not less. it could be psycological issues, as in you know she's away so you don't bother teasing yourself by getting excited....or it could be a physical problem. for your sake i hope it's physical so a pill can fix it. my husband had the same problem after we had our first kid. our baby was sharin a bedroom with us. it was psychological, he knew the baby would wake up. it took a few years to fix, a pill could have taken only days. for your sake, go see a doc....a doc who you trust to be very professional so you won't be embarrassed - good luck to you!!

I am in my 30s, married, and I still get them, so it may be something to worry about. If you are still getting the ones from just waking up in the morning, you are probably alright. However, if even those have gone away, you might want to see a specialist. You could have a problem with blood flow.

You are starting to have fewer of the embarrassing involuntary erections that you had in your teens..
This will not effect your voluntary performance..

You are now at the age where you start thinking about income more than sex. Now you know why.

you will experience a slow decline in readiness, but it's real slow. You can always be ready, though.
