Called the Military Commissions Act of 2006, the bill abandons the Geneva Convention (formed after Hitler's atrocities in WWII), legalizes the torture of U.S. citizens, suspends all civil rights for prisoners and allows the President to declare virtually anyone to be an "enemy combatant" -- artists, writers, scientists, protestors or anyone who does not agree with the pro-war stance of the current regime.

disgraced nation

What the U.S. Congress has done is beyond shameful. The rest of the world now sees the United States as a rogue nation, led by a power-grabbing madman who has, in six short years, taken us to the threshold of Police State tyranny, all while claiming to be protecting the Constitution.

We live in a dangerous time, half of the answers you get here will doubt you, but we are headed into the direction of the world against us. This will make North Korea look like a great place to live. Dangerous, dangerous indeed.

First off its a bill, an Act refers to a constitutional amendment. Amendments have to be approved by the electorate, it cannot be passed only by the Congress.

I have attached a link so you can the details of the bill.

It does not apply to US citizens, just enemy combatants. However if a citizen fires on US troops I have no problem with them being considered a combatant.

Last Thursday or Friday the folks within the USA Constitutional renewed movement increased encouragement to buy guns and ammo and if possible learn martial arts, not the sport kind. We still have our constitution but unfortunately there are more than enough useful idiots in federal government to commit treasonous atrocities against us. Could it be that instead of "Drug Bust" door breaking cops will in the near future yell, " Terrorist check" whilst breaking down someone door ? The war on terror is a scam. We have been terrorized by our own leaders.

Boy are YOU misguided! First it is the "Geneva Conventions," made up of four treaties. Second, it was formed way before WWII! In fact it was formed in 1857 by by Henri Dunant, who was motivated by the horrors of war he witnessed at the Battle of Solferino in 1859. In 1977 and 2005 three separate amendments, called protocols, were made part of the Geneva Conventions. (Wikipedia)

Let's remember that the Geneva Conventions only protect uniformed soldiers connected with legitimate armies, not rogue terrorists.

Well, first, read it. Front to back. Not just parts that you want to, ALL of it.

The bill makes sense, but again, those who are already against America seem to only pick up on what they want to see, not the bill as a whole.

Your Anti-American sentiment is annoying and it bores me. Why not take up knitting?

Um...I am in the service...there is no gold strip on my ID card. It cannot hold data, and it cannot be tracked. The card has a simple interface like you have on a hotel room key card that holds my CAC ID so I can get into classified area's and log into my computer securely. I guess this is a huge conspiracy since we have had cards like this for what? 60 years or so now? Idiot...

Absolutely! America has got to wake up to what is really going on. And then, I fear that is probably too late to stop them and their New World Order police state. I have never felt so helpless, and hopeless in my life.

It's horrifying. Isn't there anything you can do about it?
People shouldn't have kept on calling him Hitler. It went to his head.
I hope they don't drag us down too (England and Canada).

May your days be truly joyful (If possible, in light of what's happenning.)
