I think that Charles should become King, he has done so much that people choose to ignore, the Princes Trust for one thing is an amazing organisation which has helped thousands of people not only change their lives but do it themselves and successfully. He is also a voice for farmers a community which has been under a lot of pressure recently. As well if you look at the Duchy of Cornwall you will find more examples of his prespective on life. If he was not King I think we would be missing out.

Quite honestly, I am not fond of Charles~ but I fail to see how his becoming King would be detrimental to England.

What makes everyone so certain that Wiliam would make a great King is not so apparent to me.

Of course, as an American, I see the monarchy as more of a symbol of another era and not much else. Although I do enjoy the pageantry when I travel to London.

Cheers!

Charles will be king one day. The line of succession has to go to Charles and it can't be passed on to William until Charles is dead or he decides not to take the crown. Charles has waited for many years to take his place on the throne. The queen will not pass down the crown until she dies as she is from the old school of the Royals and she takes her role seriously.

With all due respect to his royal highness Jug Ears the Tellygoon I feel that someone else would make a better King or Queen, not nescessarily prince William or his Nazi garbed sibling,
Why not have a "How do you solve a problem like the succession" prime time TV show.

If you respect the Queen then you will know that she doesn't want Charles to become King - otherwise she would have abdicated shortly after her mother died. It is a very difficult situation for her because I am sure she would prefer William to become King but doesn't want to curtail his boyish escapades. I am quite sure that, when the time is right, our Queen will make the right decision.

This is a foolish suggestion. Under the constitution he shall become king the instant his mother dies. She has no control over the succession, thus she has no 'plan' to pass it on to Prince William.

Why do people keep bringing this up on Yahoo Answers? Charles will be king. Accept it.

Charles cannot become King of England, or any other part of Great Britain, unless there are changes to the British Constitution, primarily because he has married a divorcee.

I think that's Queen Elizabeth's plan.

Charles is too eccentric to be king, plus he's unpopular. And the public have more clout than you would imagine. They have never forgiven him for sleeping with camilla the night before marrying Diana.
