Imagine if FDR faced the same crap 60 years ago. Imagine if Congress, the media, and bloggers second-guessed every decision he made. Imagine if people say he arranged the attacks on Pearl Harbor. Imagine if, after D-Day, the opposition party decided we took too many American boys had given their lives fighting the Nazis. Would we have still won the War?

Don't get me wrong, Bush is no FDR. Not even close. But what if...

The problem with you question is that: in WWII, Japan attacked the US and we declared war on Japan which was allied with Germany and Italy, so therefore we were at war with them too. On Sept 11, 2001, we were attacked by AlQaeda which was based in Afghanistan and had nothing to do with Iraq, but we still went to war with Iraq.

If the Internet existed 60 years ago, it would have affected the dissemination of information in every country, not just the good ol' US of A. Would Hitler have been able to rise to power with bloggers running amok? What about Japan? It would completely throw off all the propaganda machines....

If we'd had the technology 60 years ago that we have today I'm sure we'd all be extinct by now, as thats where we're currently heading...

But, back to your question, no, I don't think so, because the people who lived 60 years ago trusted their governments, and had never had a reason NOT to trust them.

Today, its flipped, and we need reasons just to trust our own government. I mean, look at the Germans in Nazi Germany, they were STUNNED when they lost the war b/c all they were told was how they were on the brink of winning, for six years. Hitler, Nixon, and every other politician who has manipulated the trust that was placed in him/ her has led to the political climate of today, tv has merely replaced radio, and the internet has replaced conversation. People knew all about the war sixty years ago, but their faith in government is the fundamental difference, NOT technology.

We'd be speaking German, and instead of Spanish as a second language in school, it would be Japanese. And you can't say Bush is no FDR - if FDR had his hands tied the way people are trying to tie Bush's, who knows how effective or ineffective he'd have been.
