Am stands for "Aplitude Modulation- that is, the radio signal changes in the actual electrical impluses up and down.

FM stands for "Frequency Modulation"- that is, the radio signals change in the actual frequency.

BC used to stand for "Before Christ" and AD used to stand for "After Death" but now these are not PC so they're using "BCE" (Before Christian Era)

AM = amplitude modulation.

FM = frequency modulation.

AM = ante meridian (Latin for "before noon.")

PM = post meridian (Latin for "after noon.")

B.C. = Before Christ, but this abbreviation is falling out of use and giving way to B.C.E., which = Before Christian Era.
.
A.D. = Anno Domini (which is Latin for "in the year of our lord.") It does not stand for "After Death," because this would fail to take into account the years that Christ was living.
