Since they are mammals, whales have lungs, not gills. They must come to the ocean surface to breathe through nostrils known as blowholes.

I find it hard to believe that one of the whales at Sea World actually allowed you to manipulate its blow hole in that manner.

when a whale eats, ti takes in alot tof watertoo. sothe blow hole is usually to get rid of all the water.

They need oxygen just like us. Hold your breath and youll blow out of your hole. They can hold their breath longer because of a difference in hemoglobin.
