Tame your iguana. My iguana is 7 years old, and is the tamest sweetest iguana EVER. She's been held and handled at least 20 minutes, sometimes up to several hours every day of her life. They're hard work!

The reason why an Iguana slashes with his tail is because it's one of it's defenses. If your iguana is slashing you, It is most likely because it's afraid of you or it is very nervous around you. My suggestion would be to spend time with your pet and try handling him different than the way you usually handle him and see if you cant win him over. It is my experience with the iguana's that I owned in the past that they don't go around slashing things for no reason. Out of seven, I cant remember any that were scared of me or really wanted to get away

If the iguana thinks the tail whipping is not having the desired effect he will stop. This means NEVER let the tail whipping stop you from doing what you are trying to do. My son wears his leather jacket when he takes his iguana out of it's cage. Since he started doing that the lizard does not tail whip very often.
If he is tail whipping you once he is outside of his cage it could be that he has been frightened. We have found that lifting the lizard higher can help in this situation. If he is simply upset that you are holding him, try holding him close to you so you have control over his tail.
NEVER pull on or hold an Iguana by his tail. They are capable of dropping them and they will never grow back as nice as they were originally.

give me back my iguana,
does it hurt?
i didn't think he had it in him...
seriously buy a shirt or chainmail
you could tie it off and snip it after a day or two,
he won't notice i didn't think it got through the rubber
in my latex suit when i was handling him,
train him to be more careful and don't hold his back hold him by the underbelly as you take him out..
