For sure--Heat and cold is worst enemy even new unopened cans.

If opened air will start drying out pronto. always pour out and replace lid quickly and firmly. They have lids now with pour spouts like oil cans-they are ok if you are going to use all the paint but not for storing.

If you have good paint. don't keep it where heat and cold reaches it. I keep mine in the house in a locker. so it will last me next 10 years if need be. I built a workshop onto home 20 x20. Thanky you cool AC.

same applies for spray paint cans.

Yes it can. To store leftover paint, put in a glass jar with a sheet of plastic wrap. Screw the lid on tightly. Mark where the paint is used. I use this method when I want to do touch-ups around the house.

Didn't you just answer your question? The paint shouldn't stink or be moldy when you "panted" a wall.
Being water based Latex paint is very succeptible to freezing.

YES ITS OLD. YOU SHOULD HAVE TAKEN IT BACK WHERE YOU BOUGHT IT IF YOU SAVED THE CAN WITH HOPEFULLY SOME STILL IN IT. JUST TAKE IT BACK TELL THEM TO SMELL IT AND LET THEM KNOW THAT YOUR WALLS SMELL LIKE THAT NOW MAYBE THEY'LL DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT.

Yes. Do not use it. Check and see when you got it and if it was w/i the last year, bring it and the reciept back to where you purchased it.

Yes, it can, esp if air has gotten to it...
You can always take it back to where purchased---it may have been a problem with the entire "run".
